What
is Technology Reformatting©?
Technology Reformatting©
is a creative process for uniquely tailoring technologies from different
industries to provide solutions to important and difficult business
issues.
How
does Technology Reformatting© Work?
Reformatting technologies is a complex process and requires an in-depth
understanding of material sciences from diverse industries, as well
as a thorough understanding of physical and engineering sciences.
Technology Reformatting©
uses a extensive network of world class experts, numerous knowledge
databases, leading edge strategic technical insights and innovative
thought processes to adjust and augment the technology imported
from a different industry to function as required in the new application.
The changes necessary to reformat the imported technology (or technology
components) are highly varied depending on the specific imported
technology and new end use application. For explanatory purposes,
a partial list of reformatting parameters that may be necessary
to meet new end use requirements is provided below:
- Resizing
- The imported technology embodiment may be too large, too small
or the wrong shape to fit into the new end product.
- Power
Parameters - The original power requirements may be different
in voltage, wattage, amperage and or source (such as battery or
electrical outlet).
- Environmental
Conditions - The imported technology may be required to work
in a different environment than its original design -- which could
be more or less strenuous. For example, in its new environment,
the imported technology may need to work submerged underwater
rather than exposed to dry air, function in an acidic rather than
a basic environment, or perform at an elevated temperature instead
of ambient conditions.
- Reliability
Requirements - The reliability requirements of the imported
technology may need to increase or decrease. For example, the
imported technology may have been adopted from an extremely high
reliability/expensive application. As such, in its new application,
the reliability requirements may only be a fraction of the reliability
required for the original application. Conversely, the new application
could have significantly greater reliability requirements, which
would stretch the capabilities of the imported technology.
- Bundled
Technologies Considerations - In some cases, a number of diverse
technologies from disparate industries may be bundled together
to deliver a superior solution. In these situations, the reformatting
challenge centers on making the technologies compatible with each
other. Ideally, the bundled technologies would work synergistically.
However, at a minimum, the bundled technologies must not significantly
interfere with one another.
Technology
Reformatting© works in conjunction with
internal resources or independently, based on the client’s
interests and resources -- with the goal of adapting technologies
from diverse industries to provide superior solutions in new industries.
